Jawad Khan, MD
Jawad A. Khan, MD, MPH is a board-trained orthopaedic surgeon with advanced subspecialty expertise in hand and upper-extremity surgery. He currently serves as the sole hand surgeon at Platinum Orthopaedics / Orthowest in Fountain Valley, California, within a large multispecialty orthopaedic group, where he provides comprehensive surgical and nonsurgical care for complex hand, wrist, and upper-extremity conditions.
Dr. Khan earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 2011, following a BS in Psychology with a minor in Biology (with Distinction) from the University of Michigan–Dearborn. He later completed a Master of Public Health at the University of California, Berkeley, reflecting a strong foundation in population health and outcomes-based care.
He began his postgraduate training with a general surgery preliminary internship at UCSF, followed by orthopaedic surgery residency training at Wayne State University, where he developed broad expertise in trauma, arthroplasty, and reconstructive orthopaedics. In 2017, Dr. Khan matched into a highly competitive Hand Surgery Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, completing advanced training in hand, wrist, peripheral nerve, microsurgery, and upper-extremity trauma and reconstruction.
Throughout his training, Dr. Khan pursued extensive advanced coursework and cadaver-based training in hand trauma, microsurgery, fracture management, tendon reconstruction, and minimally invasive fixation techniques through AO, AAOS, ASSH, and other leading orthopaedic organizations.
Dr. Khan has a strong academic background, with multiple peer-reviewed publications and national presentations, including work published in the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and presentations at orthopaedic and urologic society meetings. His research experience spans orthopaedics, trauma, vascular surgery, urology, and outcomes research.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Khan has demonstrated long-standing commitments to medical education, ethics, volunteer service, and healthcare leadership. He is a member of numerous professional medical societies, including the Gold Humanism Honor Society, and remains actively engaged in advancing high-quality, compassionate, patient-centered orthopaedic care.
